The waiting room at St Margarets station on The New River Line, which runs from Hertford East to Broxbourne, has undergone a fantastic refurbishment. Greater Anglia’s asset team and contractors TSPP have replaced floors, lowered the ceiling, installed new benches and charging points.
The New River Line Community Rail Partnership were pleased to be involved in the initial planning process and had shelves included in the design to start a community book swap, lending library with room for local businesses to leave leaflets.
The stunning new mural was funded by the Community Rail Partnership and is taken from a photo by talented local photographer, Paul Wood. The local community were invited to vote for their favourite image from a selection of five of Paul’s photos of the area. Over 200 people voted, with the winning image receiving over half of the votes. As one person commented ‘It so represents the tranquillity of the area, it could be a tourist attraction’.
